Revolutionary Movements of YTU in February

Feb 1 to Feb 26

    Yangon Technological University Students’ Union issued a statement to immediately release all the country civilian leaders and representatives that were forcibly abducted on February 1st of 2021.

    On February 3rd, YTUSU issued a statement, saying that there was no desperate situation to be calling upon state’s emergency, to return the state’s power as soon as possible.

    On February 4th, YTUSU issued a statement as to support the Third Parliament (Hluttaw) Meeting, along with the people of the state.

    On February 5th, YTUSU had been utterly supporting the Civil Disobedience Movement involving the teachers and staff of Yangon Technological University as to express the objection of the military rule.

    On February 5th, the students of Yangon Technological University participated in a Photo Campaign to express the rejection of the junta.

    On February 5th, YTUSU issued a statement, fully supporting the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) which was formed in Third Parliament (Hluttaw) Meeting.

    On February 8th, the students of Yangon Technological University went on strike and protested on the roads.

    On February 9th, a sign was put in front of the university’s gate to declare that the Yangon Technological University is a Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) university.

    On February 10th, YTUSU sent a foreword to State Counsellor, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, with regard to comeback to nation’s duties as soon as possible with the best of health.

Mar 13 to Mar 31

    On March 13, YTUSU donated alms and money to monks and nuns in honor of Ko Phone Maw, Ko Soe Naing and the student martyrs who died in successive pro-democracy uprisings.

    On March 13, as a commemoration of 33 years of Ko Phone Maw and Ko Soe Naing's death, Yangon Technological University Students’ Union, Western Yangon Technological University Students’ Union and Yangon University of Computer Studies Students' Union led a student strike, lit a candle to mourn, read messages from various unions, recited poems and chanted.

    On March 14, teachers and students from YTU who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement accounted for 96% of the total.

    On March 15, One Hand for Four Brothers Campaign, YTUSU has arranged for donations and assistance to refugees in Kachin, Karen, Chin and Rakhine states. Food items and donations totaled 5,310,000 kyats.

    On March 25, YTUSU, WYTUSU and UCSYSU staged a protest march in Sanchaung Township.

    On March 27, we pledged our sincere apologies for our failure to stand with our minorities for the genocide against the Rohingya, which was carried out on the grounds that the terrorist army had cleared the area.

    On March 27, students from Yangon Technological University marched and chanted in Sanchaung Township with the people of Sanchaung Township.

Apr 1 to Apr 30

    On April 1, YTUSU, WYTUSU and UCSYSU set fire to the abolished 2008 constitution books.

    On April 4, the YTUSU Central Executive Committee formed the Revolutionary Executive Committee to carry out the activities of the Union during the Spring Revolution more effectively.
  3. Apr 9 - 11, 2021


    On April 9, 10, 11, YTUSU, along with university student unions, participated in the 'Red Movement' red painting.
  4. Apr 11 - 12, 2021


    On April 11 and 12, the protesters marched along with the ASU-Yangon protesters in Tamwe Township.

    On 16 April, YTUSU sent a message of welcome to the formation of the National Unity Government (NUG).

May 4 to May 15

    On May 4, posters were hung on the campus as a 'No-Go' campaign.
  2. May 8, 2021


    On May 8, YTU provided 70,000 kyats each to 210 CDM staff and honored 34 CDM teachers with 100,000 kyats each.

    On 13 May, YTU was listed as the top CDM University in the Yangon Division.
  4. May 15, 2021


    On May 15, we were informed that a total of 44 students attended YTU under military rules.

June 3 to June 24

    On June 3, YTUSU and university-based student unions rallied on Anaw-ya-hta Road in protest.
  2. June 6, 2021


    On 6 June, donations were collected through the “Let’s have each other” campaign to help all ethnic groups and received 45 lakh kyats.
  3. June 7, 2021


    On 7 June, the University Council of Yangon Technology University was established. The University Council was formed to provide educational guarantees during and after the Spring Revolution.
  4. June 19, 2021


    On 19 June, University Student Unions staged a protest march on Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's birthday.
  5. June 24, 2021


    On 24 June, Yangon-Based University Student Unions sent an open letter to NUG with revolutionary ideas.

Revolutionary Movements of YTU in July

July 1 to July 30

  1. July 1, 2021


    On July 1, ASU-Yangon townships and students joined the five-month-long protest of the Spring Revolution and chanted on Thanthumar Road.
  2. July 3, 2021


    On 3 July, YTUSU, ASU-Yangon and the people marched in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township.
  3. July 7, 2021


    On July 7, YTUSU and ASU-Yangon joined forces to burn the insignia and flags of the terrorist group in Tamwe Township to mark the end of the revolution.
  4. July 12, 2021


    On 12 July, the Student Union Representatives Committee (SURC) was formed with 171 student unions.
  5. July 16, 2021


    On 16th July, YTU awarded 204 CDM employees with 70,000 Kyats each.
  6. July 19, 2021


    On July 19, student unions, including YTUSU, protested against the Martyrs' Day strike amid tight security in Rangoon.

    On 28 July, university student unions protested in Thingangyun Township.
  8. July 30, 2021


    On July 30, YTUSU and the Union of Universities staged a protest in Tamwe Township.

Aug 2 to Aug 31

    On August 2, the head of the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - DADD) in South Asia congratulated to the University Council of Yangon Technological University for establishing a new University Council and prayed for continued cooperation with YTU.

    On August 8, YTUSU declared that it had been 33 years since the four (8) mass uprisings against the military dictatorship, and that our people were still responsible for ending the dictatorship.
  3. Aug 11, 2021


    On 11 August, YTU launched a Click to donate Campaign to donate to CDM staff and requested to click for about 15 minutes a day.

    More than 60 lakhs were raised to be donated to the revolutionary comrades who were training in the forest and the mountains.

    On 16 August, opinion surveys were conducted to the students by YTUSU to formulate the revolutionary (interim) education programs and policies.
