Brief History

In 2014, the first students’ association in Yangon Technological University was formed in the name of Yangon Technological University Students’ Network. In 2015-2016 academic years, according to students’ survey and referendum, it was later renamed and devoted as Yangon Technological University Students’ Union.

YTUSU’s Activities

University Charter

  • Begun in 2019
  • Includes structure and operations
  • Includes teachers, staffs and students.
  • "Charter Support Team" from SU
  • Writing the university Charter, which is to be included university’s structure and operations, was begun in 2019 with the democratically inclusive of all positions and levels of teachers, staffs and students.
  • During YTU Charter writing and establishing processes, students’ union involve deeply and assist each processes by a special team, Charter Support Team, formed with Students’ Union members and directed by SU President.
  • Students’ Union has succeeded to make every related person involved in the processes and furthermore, still trying and assisting at all efforts to establish the details as Regulations.

University Autonomy

  • Supports the process of becoming an autonomous university
  • Involves in writing regulations and future plans
  • Supports the process of improving infrastructure and operations
  • Students’ Union has been supporting the processes in the university becoming an autonomous university.
  • In order to get autonomy, there are 8 criteria or dimensions to be checked by the legals. Students’ Union has involved in writing regulations and future plans for each dimension, getting ideas and consultations from related professionals and legals.
  • Students’ Union has been supporting not only in processes dealing to get autonomy but also in getting the university ready in both infrastructure and operations after being regarded as an autonomous university.

Campus Master Plan

  • A plan to modernize university campus
  • “Campus Master Plan Support Team” from SU
  • Supports campus renovation processes
  • Campus Master Plan means the strategic plan for which developing and maintaining the university’s campus to be modernized, fully facilitated and sustainably balanced in each and every sector.
  • Students’ Union formed a special team, “Campus Master Plan Support Team”, directed by the Vice President and co-directed by an executive.
  • Up to now, Master Plan Support Team has been supporting in campus renovation processes along with expanding the required academic zones and buildings plans and procedures. During this processes, Students’ Union connected with the related department, went field study and got consulted by the professionals of respective fields.
