Speech Delivered by the Acting President of Myanmar on 35th Memorial Day of Ko Phone Maw and Ko Soe Naing who were killed by Military Junta in 1988

H.E. Duwa Lashi La, the Acting President of the National Unity Goverment of Myanmar sent a written speech to the Yangon Technological University on 13 March, 2023 to commemorate the 35th Memorial Day of Ko Phone Maw and Ko Soe Naing who were shot killed by the military in the campus of YTU previously known as RIT.

In his speech, the Acting President expressed that he was proud to send a message to the National Unity Government for the second time on this memorial day.

The Acting President said that the violent shooting and killing of Ko Phone Maw and Ko Soe Naing by the military dictators led to a rapid rise in the political spirit of the people and gave rise to the 8888 democratic uprising, which changed history at a turning point.

He said the struggle for democracy continues under the leadership of the National Unity Government to root out the military dictatorship. The Acting President promised that the National Unity Government is determined with all ethnic allies to establish a federal democratic union with full right to self-determination and the right to create one's own destiny.

In addition, the Acting President was proud to see the civil servants and students of Yangon Technological University standing together with the people.
